April 8, 2020 by Gayle Goodman At 7:00 p.m. throughout New York, applause bursts out of the windows to honor those workers on the front lines of fighting the COVID-19 epidemic. Here, the residents of an Upper West Side building cheered their building staff, members of Local 32BJ. It was in thanks and support for showing up every day by means of mass transit, personal vehicles, or whatever it takes to maintain their building and provide essential building services, even with the risk involved during this pandemic.
